How to Connect Stripe with Cellar

Modified on Thu, 1 Aug, 2024 at 8:55 AM

Payments in Cellar are processed through Stripe. Connecting Stripe to Cellar is straightforward and requires entering your Stripe account's API keys into the Cellar admin.

Step 1: Obtain API Keys from Stripe

1. Stripe users with Administrator permissions can access the API keys by navigating to the Developers section of the Stripe dashboard.

2. In the Developers dashboard, click on the "API keys" tab.

3. Copy both your live Publishable key token and your live Secret key token.

Tip: Instead of a Secret key, you may also use a custom Restricted key with permissions set for Cellar. If using a Restricted key, you must allow Cellar the following: "Write" permissions to all core resources, all Checkout resources, all Billing resources, all Order resources, all Issuing resources, all Webhook resources, all Terminal resources, and all Tax resources.

Step 2: Configure Stripe in Cellar

1. Navigate to Payments in the Cellar admin.

2. Click on the "Create" button at the top of the page to add a new acquirer.

3. Under the Type drop-down menu, select "Stripe".

4. Add a name for this acquirer under Title.

5. Insert your Publishable key token under "Public Key" and your Secret or Restricted key token under "Private Key".

6. Select the Brand this integration applies to.

Warning: If you have multiple Brands using the same Stripe account, you must create an acquirer for each Brand using the same keys.

7. Check the box under "Is Active?" to activate the API.

8. Click the "Save" button.

Note: If a Stripe API already exists for the selected Brand, creating a new acquirer will disable the previous one.
